This tour is easily one of our most popular - a desert trip from Marrakech to Merzouga that takes in many new discoveries. There are oases, sand dunes, Kasbahs, camel trekking and an overnight stay in a Sahara Desert camp where you and your private party can gaze up into the night sky and witness the endless array of stars. There is no light pollution to spoil your starlight gaze at your camp in the middle of the desert, and the sunset you witness when camel trekking is equally lavish.
Departure at 8:00 in the morning from your riad or hotel or the airport. We'll travel south, crossing the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizin n'Tichka pass at 2,260 m altitude. We'll then visit Ouarzazate and the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, passing through the beautiful Valley of the Roses to spend the night in the Dades Gorges. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast we will head to the desert of Merzouga. Visit the Todra pameral and the Todra Gorges through Erfoud (city of fossils) until you reach Merzouga. In the afternoon, we will leave the 4 × 4 and take the camels to cross the Sahara Desert dunes for about two hours. Enjoy a night in the heart of the desert in nomadic tents (jaimas) enjoying the stars, the moon, the sunset, dinner and accommodation in jaimas (an unforgettable night).
Wake early to enjoy a view of the sun rising over the dunes. Return to the hotel after breakfast to shower, and then depart to the vast palm grove of Tafilalet, passing through the city of Rissani (the Alaouite dynasty and the capital of the ancient Sultan Alaouite) .
