This day trip will take us out of Marrakech at 09.00 am and head south for the beauty and splendor that is the Ourika Valley. It takes an hour-and-a-half to reach Setti Fatma, but there is so much to see on the way that we’ll be stopping off at regular intervals to take in the sights and sounds of the beautiful Ourika Valley.
We will leave Marrakesh around 9.00 in the morning. Then we drive toward the Atlas Mountains, where we will see many beautiful landscapes and authentic Berber villages, some dating back to the 16th and 17th century. This is a verdant, fertile region with fruit and olive trees, gardens and rivers. Just an hours drive from the bustling medina and you are immersed in this haven of nature and peace with just the sound of birdsong to break the silence.
We will visit a traditional Moroccan house to see how local people live and cook. From the roof of the house you have a beautiful view of a 17th century village and also along the valley. The owner of the house prepares a tea ceremony to show us how to make mint tea and afterwards they serve us local breakfast (bread, butter, honey, olive oil and tea).
Then we continue deeper in the valley. We stop for a camel ride for around 20 minutes, and then we go hiking for two hours to see the famous Setti Fatma water falls where the fresh snowmelt water cascades down the huge rocks. This is a very picturesque area and a favorite with visitors to Marrakech.
In the afternoon, we will stop for lunch in one of the riverside restaurants that line the river's edges. Here you can sit back and enjoy the ambience and local traditional dishes. In the late afternoon we return to Marrakech.
